HUNTING ART PRIZE ANNOUNCES 2008 JURORS
HOUSTON - Hunting PLC recently announced that six respected members of the Texas arts community are serving as jurors for the 2008 Hunting Art Prize. Members of the jury, who are conducting a two-tiered judging process, are:
- Rene Paul Barilleaux, chief curator of the Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum in San Antonio;
- Peter Briggs, PhD, Helen DeVitt Jones curator of art, Museum of Texas Tech University in Lubbock;
- Christian Gerstheimer, curator for the El Paso Museum of Art;
- Amy Lewis Hofland, director of the Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas;
- Victoria Lightman, co founder and principal director of the “Looking At Art” education program;
- Michelle Locke, associate curator of the South Texas Institute for the Arts in Corpus Christi.
Briggs, Gerstheimer and Locke will conduct the first round of judging to select the finalist, and Barilleaux, Hofland and Lightman will carry out the second phase to choose the recipient of the $50,000 prize. The competitions winner will be announced at an event on May 3 in Houston.
